Through my associate, Exa-Min Technologies, I can offer and support a range of robust and innovative mobile and desktop mapping solutions for those with specific needs in asset management, be that in municipal infrastructure (water, sewerage, drainage, roads etc), natural resource management (weed infestations, remnant vegetation, soil erosion, salinity etc) or risk management.
With the arrival of .NET technology, future development of the software will be based on customised modules that can be easily incorporated into the basic version of the application. Plans are already underway to incorporate specific requirements of vegetation mapping, risk analysis etc into customised modules.
A significant drawback of current versions of MapInfo is the difficulty of linking to more than a single image of a spatial entity. Exa-Min Technologies has developed a product that allows for the linking of multiple files (photographs, word processor documents, spreadsheets, slideshows, web pages etc) to individual spatial objects. This capability enables the user to keep track of works in progress on assets, reports on modifications etc at the click of a mouse.
