Hazardous Materials Incidents

As the Chief Scientific Services Officer for the Tasmanian Department of Environment & Planning from 1989-1993, I was responsible for initiating Departmental response to incidents involving (or appearing to involve) the release of hazardous materials to the environment.

Such incidents included response to:

I was also responsible for co-ordinating and advising on the cleanup & rehabilitation measures put in place as a result of these incidents.

As the Manager of Analytical Services at the ACT Parks & Conservation Service from 1984-1989, I was responsible for investigating a number of wildlife kills as a result of pesticide usage.

As the Environmental Superintendent at Woodlawn Mines from 1978-1983, I was responsible for determining potential releases of contaminants to the environment as well as investigating a number of wildlife deaths in the area.
